Building bridges over troubled waters!

For every child whose challenges are many and resources too few, PRAYAS plays a part in transforming their lives! Difficulties are challenges to be conquered, not barriers to keep them down!

About Us

Late Sunil Shekhawat

Perseverance and a strong will can help overcome many hurdles!
Sunil was a multiple disabled child, suffering from cerebral palsy, could not even roll or crawl, lacked expressive speech and vocalization. He came to Prayas 18 years ago. He was very creative - Loved painting and drawing cartoons. So full of self respect, he had a keen desire to overcome his disability and lead a financially independent life!

Sunil could do rolling, sitting, crawling and kneeling and could propel himself on a tricycle. He studied upto Class VIII in a regular school. He was financially independent and working in Rungta Hospital, Jaipur - running a STD booth and as Store Keeper. He got married and became a father to one daughter.
Life can be so unjust. Sadly, we lost Sunil in the period of the Covid pandemic.

A leaf hits the surface, down-stream it goes.
A bird passes by It swoops and it dives
Then up, up, up it goes Off into the sky.

About Us

Roop Narayan

Opportunity can transform a street-urchin, with no future prospects to become an enterprising entrepreneur!

Roopnarayan was a thirteen year old beggar on crutches, suffering from polio in both the legs. Found begging on traffic crossings, he was brought to Prayas by Miss Jatinder ten years ago. He was counseled and motivated to give up begging and start studying. He was provided three meals a day, a place to stay and admitted as a regular student to school. He was imparted Computer Education and provided with a tricycle to increase his mobility.

Today Roopnarayan has completed school and graduation. Presently pursuing a Company Secretary course, he is also working as a Contractor. He takes assignments for job work in the Jaipur Collectorate, and employs two persons to help him.

I may seem scattered, but that illusion is shattered
when you learn I'm so organized, professional even with
some compromise!
